Growing Blue was created to tell the important story of how water is as essential to our economic and social growth as it is to ensuring healthy ecosystems and our natural environment.
This site is meant to serve as a resource for credible, accurate information on water. It is also aimed at increasing global awareness of our water challenges and the need for thoughtful solutions. In that regard, we hope Growing Blue is a catalyst and platform for dialogue on this important topic. Water is one of the most critical factors in determining how and at what pace our world can support humanity’s continued growth. That story needs to be told with a greater voice and to a broader audience, now and in the future.
In consultation with industry colleagues, scientists, academia and environmental professionals at leading NGOs, Growing Blue was created by Veolia Water in consultation with The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Water Alliance, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the United Nations Global Compact CEO Water Mandate, The Earth Institute at Columbia University, Global Water Intelligence and Cardno ENTRIX.
Growing Blue welcomes additional contributors to ensure a balanced perspective on addressing the world’s water challenges. IBM, Xylem, GE, the World Resources Institute, International City/County Management Association and the International Desalination Association have all joined Growing Blue, and the Milwaukee Water Council and the International Private Water Association both serve as advisory members. Featured on the site, the International Food Policy Research Institute conducted important analysis central to asserting the important links between human and economic prosperity and water.
